Changing the main font size in your WordPress site

Each site comes with a base font size for the web page, and this size can vary from site to site. Some sites like to use a small font size (12-14px) while others use a large size for a default body text (16px and up). In this article, you’ll learn how to change the body text font size.

If you are wondering what font size should you use for your site then I would recommend to check out this study, and also read Your Body Text Is Too Small article to get a better understanding on what size to use for the body text.

Changing the body font size on your site is relatively an easy process. All you need to do is to add a few lines of CSS. Let’s say you want to change a default font size to 16px. In this case, your CSS will look like this:

body {
   font-size: 16px;
}

If you want to override a default font size of your WordPress theme then please do not edit the parent theme style.css file. Instead, use a custom CSS functionality which you can find on your WordPress site in the Customizer.

Also, please note that this CSS snippet will change a size of your body font and a size of other elements that inherit the body font size. This CSS snippet will have no effect on elements that have its own set font size.
